Geographically located in Southwest Germany in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate near the French border, the Airport Zweibrücken is situated 40 km south-west of Kaiserslautern. It is directly connected to the German autobahn system with its own exit on the autobahn A 8 (Exit Contwig/Bitche) and is combined with the French roadweb via the new L 700 which is a comfortable connection.

The existing over 3,000 meter runway has got an instrumental landing system for both directions of approach which will reach the category CAT 2 at the begin of the year 2009. A special authorization for nightflights permits the dispatch around the clock.

The technical equipment allows the clearance of all the aircrafts for passengers and cargo which are currently on the market.

Since more than two years Zweibrücken is connected with Berlin. Twice a day Germanwings, a German low-cost-carrier, flies from and to Berlin: once in the morning and once in the evening.

During the whole year, the holiday-airline Tuifly offers vacation-flights almost off-home. While in the summertime the interest of the passengers is concentrated on holiday-destinations around the Mediterranean Sea, in the winter-season the Canary Islands and Egypt are preferred which promise a sunny vacation. On the summerflight-schedule, there stand the most popular destinations like Mallorca, Rhodos, Kreta and the Turkish Antalya.
